HOWRAH
Renovation, Howrah – removal of walls and reconfiguration others to develop the internal footprint of the home to facilitate a larger kitchen, larger bathroom including bath and walk in shower, and a laundry and dining which now benefit from increased light and flow.
NEW TOWN
Bedroom extension, Hobart- Additional bedroom footprint created by utilising end of a driveway and providing separation by incorporating a linen cupboard between the existing lounge. Existing roof line at rear of home continued to ensure aesthetic continuity.
NORTH HOBART
North Hobart – This was a dilapidated rental which had not been maintained since 1997 with severe cracking in walls and generally in very poor condition. We demolished the exterior laundry at the rear and replaced it with a European Laundry inside the front door. We retiled the bathroom with a niche and reconfigured the kitchen. We painted, polished the floorboards and built a small Jarrah deck at the rear which has created an uplifting family space.
NEW TOWN
New Town Renovation Laundry, 2 Bathrooms. A renovation and extension of a classic local face brick home with reframe of existing roofline to create a raked ceiling and skillion roof. Extension of this section created a laundry/butlers pantry hybrid in a very small space which also brought light though a timber glass door and considered skylight.
WEST HOBART
West Hobart – (skylight bedroom one) A renovation of a heritage listed home, creating a master bedroom and ensuite within an existing atrium without windows in walls creating a private space that connects to the sky. The poor access issues were overcome to create a unique space.
BROADMARSH
Renovation and extension of a 1900’s horse ranch with the design focusing on light and simplicity. There was an emphasis on creating harmony with the existing while creating inviting spaces that flowed creating a relaxing environment for the family to enjoy.

Interior design, fitouts & renovations.
Creating a new feel for existing areas through design of built features like mantles and french doors. Considered design focusing on potential and possibilities. Avalon Design and Build have a focus on timber restoration and modifying internal layouts including bathrooms to kitchens and window layout to create relaxing spaces and emphasise natural light.
Extensions.
Extensions to create an inspirational and relaxing environment. This is achieved by developing the design with the client and a series of 3D models outlining layout and style of a proposed construction.
Project Management.
Avalon Design and Build utilises Michael Mills’ background in managing major Engineering projects throughout Australia to develop an individual process suited to each renovation. Every project is different from the living arrangements during constriction to the development build segments to suit the clients needs as it progresses. Our system includes programming with contingencies and uses our strong relationships with our partners to ensure our clients communication and deliverables are achieved.

Design and build outdoor spaces where we use pergolas and patios to achieve a relaxing and functional environment.
Furniture design
and construction.
Contemporary furniture with pieces ranging from a Huon pine book shelf to an oak queen size bed. We love using recycled Tasmanian specialty timbers and customising the build to suit the space and compliment the feel of a space.
